From the outside, I look like everybody else. I’m nothing special. And, if you’re feeling slightly above average, it’s probably because you’ve paid the price to feel such uniqueness, such beauty, such style. Everything external has a price tag and the “way hip” pay it. I like, and applaud, the people that don’t HAVE to be hip. Like the woman on the bus that has not changed her hairstyle since the 80’s…(applause) She doesn’t care…but how the hell do I know? Maybe she does? The point is…there is no point. Fashion is bought. Now get out there and open your wallets.

Here we are again, Fall...

Glamour Puss –
Pucker Up…

It's Fall and I am so excited about bringing out the first pieces of my yummy new fall wardrobe...and that means I need new lips. I thought I would shop for a new lip gloss. So, my current lip glosses feel so shiny and gloppy...plus, if you are like me...the color left on my single tall non-fat latte cup is not always sexy...but I have to admit it...when my guy mentioned that my color was on his first coffee cup in the morning...I was happy I had left my mark...but really, how seriously gross is that? Here is my criteria...great color that lasts, that doesn’t look like I’m 12 years old and just learned how to apply a lip color and that I can use the entire season...here is what I found out.
I started at Nordstrom because I'm always late and thought I could experiment with several brands there. MAC was fine...their gloss is affordable at 13.50 and their new colors and formula isn't as shiny...but, it was still too shiny for me. Laura Mercier had beautiful colors...but there was no one there to help me...darn. I have had several Bobbi Brown glosses, 'cuz I love her make up, but the wand sucks. The brush is the worst for lips in my opinion...according to the gals there...Bobbi thinks it is fine for now and their MAY be a new one coming...hurry Bobbi, is what I say. I'm not the only one who thinks this.
Tarte has a cool concept with two colors on the same wand...but I would make a mess with it in my cosmetic bag. The display glosses were even a mess so I didn't even want to try.
Then the clouds parted and the angels sang as I approached the Chanel counter. I love Chanel make up. They had several fantastic glosses priced at $24. I found a couple I liked...(Glossimer and Glossimer Extreme) One is more like a lipstick and that is the one I tried (Glossimer Extreme)...It gave me a glam vibe and stayed on for the rest of my search.
I went over to L'Occitane en Provence who carries my signature lipstick...they have new formulas for their matte lipsticks that I loved, but no lip gloss that really worked. I do have to mention that there is chapstick with color I used a lot this summer. It’s a product called Terra Tints that has a spf 15 and a pigment in the balm. I love this and will continue to use it casually, but enough of that...on with the glamour gloss hunt.
NARS at Barneys had amazing colors. The gloss was good, but I wasn' willing to cover the Chanel on my lips so I kept using my hand.
As I headed out of downtown, I wanted to pop over and see Erin at Burnt who always has a great product from France that I fall in love with. I didn't make it...I had to get home in time to get ready for my sweetie's birthday party. I did swing by to pick up the Chanel gloss...So, I guess the Glamour Puss pick for Fall lips is the Chanel Glossimer and Glossimer Extreme...how can any girl resist wearing Chanel?

Windows
So, we wanted to voice our thoughts about the lost art of window display. We personally have so many display friends who are vastly talented and have moved on to other pastures...come back, come back!

  • Nordstrom ~ We must say that Nordstrom downtown makes great attempts and definitely deserves comment. We loved the vampy look in June.
  • Damsel ~ Cute frocks to look at from the bus.
  • La Femme ~ Ditto.
  • Sonic Boom Records ~ Creative as hell.
  • The Gap ~ Hot people in big poster format...very nice.
  • Area 51 ~ I want it all.
  • Red Light ~ Broadway is better than The Ave. Great for second hand.
  • Screening Room ~ Never seen the same thing twice.

Windows From our road trips...
Vegas. I wanted to buy, buy, buy...no compelling windows...it must have been the spendy fever. Can't remember the windows in NYC...It was June. I was hot and hung-over. Chicago, old art is alive there. The magnificent mile truly rocks.
