This is Kouture Korner - a fashion opinion through les Egoistes…The usual disclaimers apply-all opinions are subjective and we could be, but will not be, accountable to anyone else's opinion but our own.

Thanks to MINTY for letting our humble column hit ink…it’s new for us and we hope to establish Kouture Korner in MINTY as a forum on the latest in fashion and what’s happenin’ in the Lewis and Clark Territory.

So what is new? Not much...We've been trying hard to seek out what's really new and exciting that we can adorn ourselves with. We are in our own little world up here tucked up in the corner of the USA...Don't get me wrong, I heart this city...but fashion here is the Cha Cha on a weekend night...well, at least it's a start.

It's a tough business right now. RISK is a four letter word. Who really cares about fashion anyway when you stop and look at our BIG PICTURE? Who cares if it is satin or cashmere?...If it is in or out? Nobody. However, given that fashion is a form of self-expression, it reminds us of our freedom of choice and offers us the luxury of self-expression...if you need it, you need it...We all do. So, I'm happy to admit that I like to think about lipstick shades and if my butt looks big enough from time to time...most often at 8 a.m. in the morning before I head out the door and into The Big Picture...eager to escape...if only for a moment...

So...here are some of our favorite fashion goings on...
Ladies...Designer flip-flops in the $55 - $155 Range [more on this from Glamour Puss later]. Bathing suits that fit your bod like a glove and for your shape...remember, just like clothes, alter your suit so it fits. Burn your bras.
Legs. Oversized sunglasses...vintage or Miu Miu.

  • The slut ~ She is a hell-of-a-lot of fun. Short skirts, tight tees with high open toe heels. Bikini top under a layer with your jeans.
  • For all gals think about illuminating eye shadows and gloss over eyelids. Bare faces. For lips ~ Aveda lip balm with shimmer.
  • For hair ~ Bumble and Bumble Beach...spray in the hair for the casual beach look.
  • Gigantic totes.
  • Dressing down to dress up.
  • Body Language.
  • Spankings.
  • Don't hide under your Northface...bare your beautiful self with skin revealing style.
  • Cleavage reveling bone colored anything
[Remember to change your makeup out when wearing this color...it doesn’t work for everyone, but can with the magic of makeup].
  • Asymmetrical tops and skirt hems.
  • Feminine looks that will bring a fella to his feet as you walk in the room.

Glamour Puss Report -
So I went out to look for flip flops...that was my assignment…here’s the deal, I’m so over it… Especially when I went to pick up toothpaste around midnight the other night and had to walk through the “fashion flip-flop” aisle at Bartells...
Frankly, I need a new look to adorn my freshly pedicured feet. I, of course, had to check out my favorite shoe haunts the first sunny day we had in April. I swung by Frankies and couldn’t wait to hit Olivine… I saw a few options there, but was bored and decided to go downtown. I saw the cutest shoes at Olive and wanted several pairs, not to mention a couple of adorable bags that would complete my look phenomenally,
but please could someone help me who isn't slouching over the cash wrap?...
The Bon
and Nordstrom were the next stops for me. The mid range shoes were okay…but not quite there. Every major brand including Franco Sarto had a great open toe with thong options in many colors with sequins, floral appliqué's etc. A perfect compliment to my way cute denim looks that I like. Donald Pliner is doing a couple of really solid options, but I felt like my mom, who is super cute, but still…My favorite option for an updated flip flop was the G-Shock by Cole Haan. Nordstrom had two great styles to choose from, but I heard the Re-Sole in Ballard has more…I didn't have time to check them out before this report…but I definitely will. The G-shock shoes by Cole Haan have Nike Air technology in the sole…so I can wear them all summer…day into night. I found some Gucci's at Nordstrom. I tried, but just could not resist going to Escada (5th and Madison). Both the Gucci’s and Escada had open toe options that I absolutely would adore to buy, but, seriously, I still can't spend the cash (see my jeans report from last season for the reference)
So…I had one more stop to make…that was, believe it or not, Target…I found my fav summer shoes there two summers in a row…I didn't do it this time and will hold out to check out more of the Cole Haan G-shock's…plus, can you believe I didn’t hit Shoefly? I'm just so damn busy. Back to the G-shocks, it sucks to be pragmatic, but at least in these, my feet will still look hot.

FELLAS...

  • The white shirt.
  • Fitted denim. Shorts only if you have a hot pair of legs with some color...pleeeze, no white legs with cargo shorts...please?
  • Tech inspired flip-flops.
  • Makes me look twice.
  • Pedicures required. [Say dogs, it's safe to go to spas and salons now to get this done…get over it and step up…plus it is good for you].
  • Sleeveless arm baring t-shirts in 100% cotton and blended fabrics. [Start the push ups and tone it up].
  • Chunky watches.
  • Chunky link bracelets…I mean thick and chunky.
  • Chunky rings.
  • Body Language.
  • Clean Smells.
  • Spend your hard earned cash on a nice pair of shades.
  • The nice girl on weekends…Breakfast in bed with your main squeeze.
  • The bad girl during the week.
